Norwegian Breakaway entered service in April 2013 as the lead ship of the Breakaway class. It was ordered together with its sister, Norwegian Getaway. Pop artist Peter Max designed the colorful hull art. Chef Geoffrey Zakarian created the Ocean Blue seafood restaurant on board, and a Second City comedy troupe performs in the ship's comedy club.
