Interline fares may be available to qualifying airline and aviation professionals, retirees and eligible family members, depending on the cruise line and sailing. Each cruise line sets its own rules, and every booking is subject to that line’s verification. Our cruise advisors can review your situation before you book.

Interline rates are capacity-controlled, offered on select sailings only and never guaranteed.

Active airline employees

Current employees of commercial passenger airlines are the core group most programs serve. Some lines also include cargo carriers such as FedEx or UPS.

Retired airline employees

Many lines accept retirees, often with retiree ID or a letter from the former employer. Conditions differ, including for retirees of airlines that no longer operate.

Eligible family members

Some lines extend rates to a spouse or partner, parents or dependent children. Some require the eligible employee to sail; others do not.

Other aviation & travel-industry employees

Where a cruise line permits, this can include air traffic controllers, reservation-system (GDS) staff or other travel-industry employees.

Most lines ask for a current employee ID, retiree ID or employment letter, sometimes within a set number of hours after booking.

The documentation required, the deadline for providing it and how it is verified all depend on the cruise line and the reservation. Your advisor will confirm exactly what is needed before your booking is finalized.

Who qualifies for interline cruise rates?

It depends on the cruise line. Most programs center on current employees of commercial passenger airlines. Some also include cargo carriers, air traffic controllers, reservation-system employees, retirees and certain family members. Check the directory above, and ask an advisor to confirm eligibility for the specific sailing you have in mind.

Can retired airline employees qualify?

Often, but not on identical terms. Royal Caribbean’s published rules include retirees of commercial passenger airlines, cargo carriers, air traffic control and GDS companies, with a retiree ID badge or a letter from the former employer. Other lines’ retiree rules, including any condition about whether the former airline still operates, should be confirmed with your cruise advisor.

Can a spouse or parent book without the eligible employee?

Some cruise lines allow it and others require the eligible employee to sail. Royal Caribbean lists a spouse or domestic partner, and parents, of a currently employed airline employee as eligible; whether they may book without the employee sailing should be confirmed for your reservation. Please confirm the current rule for any other line with your advisor before booking.

What documents are required?

Usually a current employee ID badge, a retiree ID or an employment or retirement letter. Royal Caribbean, for example, asks for a photo of the current airline ID badge (retirees: retiree badge or former-employer letter) within 48 hours of booking. Requirements differ by cruise line, so your advisor will tell you exactly what to provide.

Can more than one stateroom receive the rate?

Some cruise lines allow additional staterooms, and limits differ. Royal Caribbean allows each airline employee to book two additional staterooms per sailing at the interline rate. Stateroom limits for other lines should be confirmed with your cruise advisor.

Are interline rates available on every sailing?

No. Interline rates are offered on select sailings, are capacity-controlled and are subject to availability at the time of booking. They are never guaranteed.

What happens if required documentation is not submitted on time?

Each cruise line sets its own consequences. Royal Caribbean states that a reservation that does not meet its rules may be repriced to the lowest available fare for that day, with the difference due immediately, or boarding may be denied.
