Star Breeze began life as Seabourn Spirit and joined Windstar in May 2015 after a dry dock in Genoa. She was the first of three ships stretched under Windstar's Star Plus Initiative. At Fincantieri in Palermo, finished in late 2020, a new midsection added 50 suites and two Owner's Suites, raising capacity from 212 to 312 guests. The project also added new engines, an elevated pool deck and two new restaurants.
