Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas has crossed the Atlantic back to Galveston, Texas, after a summer season in Europe and a major “Royal Amplified” refit completed in 2026. The ship left Southampton on October 16, 2026 on a 15-night crossing with calls in Vigo, Lisbon and Funchal.
What’s new on board
The refit added new staterooms and refreshed many public spaces, including:
- Izumi Teppanyaki, a Japanese restaurant with hibachi-style dining
- Starbucks
- An expanded Casino Royale
- A Royal Escape Room
- A refreshed pool deck with a Caribbean-inspired look
Short cruises from Texas
From Galveston, Liberty of the Seas sails 4- and 5-night Western Caribbean cruises to Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico. That’s an easy long-weekend getaway for travelers who can drive to the port from Houston, Austin or Dallas. A 9-night Western Caribbean voyage in August 2027 adds Roatán, Grand Cayman and Falmouth, Jamaica. The ship is scheduled to stay in Galveston through April 2028 before returning to Europe.
